NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS!

Is it only me or is anyone else finding some of the news articles presented in the various different newspapers that appear on or are featured by Google somewhat ludicrous. I am of course taking into account that Google are obviously going to choose the headlines that they feature from those they deem to be eye catching. I would understand that much although I would have to swap the term eye catching for entertaining leaning towards the comedic!

I am unable to recall which papers printed some of the articles that would best serve to illustrate my point although I believe the Daily Express may have been responsible for one or two.

I am referring to headlines such as “GIANT SUBTERRANEAN TREE RESPONSIBLE FOR PUSHING MAGMA TOWARDS THE SURFACE"!

“EARTH, OUR SOLAR SYSTEM AND A FEW NEARBY STARS ARE ENSHROUDED WITHIN GIANT MAGNETIC TUNNEL”

And last but by no means least (I almost feel duty bound to give Jules Verne a mention in connection with this headline) SCIENTISTS NOW BELIEVE THAT EARTHS CORE IS NOT ONE LARGE BALL OF IRON, IN FACT THEY BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A HIDDEN WORLD WITHIN OUR OWN"!!!!

Now I must not neglect to mention that, as you continue to read the content of these articles it becomes clear that the actual news they cover really doesn’t warrant the aforementioned headlines.

Now as anyone reading this will be able to tell, I am no Journalist, my aspirations have always been to write epic fantasy/science fiction novels to give Isaac Asimov and J.R.R.Tolkien a run for their money (I didn’t say they were realistic aspirations!!!) yet it would almost seem possible to do both at the same time when reading the headlines only!

I have to admit it has brought a much needed smile to my face and the occasional chuckle also as I have been pondering the reasons that may have led to such headlines! I only hope that it has something to do with what I entitled this writing with!!
